Even though the previous did not have as many scientific discoveries or much progress, it did give rise to many creative and artistic brains and talents. Literature was very popular and, there were many talents. Out of those many, William Shakespear was one of them. He was a 15th-century English poet, playwright, and actor and to this date still known as one of the greatest writers in the English language.

Out of those thousands of literary works he did, one of the most outstanding ones was the story of Romeo and Juliet. Till this date, the story and plays of Romeo and Juliet are still played in schools and other shows and the story is included in literature books too. It is a tragic love story about a couple that highlights the result of hate and enmity that existed between two families.

The story takes place in the city of Verona, where the two families Montague and Capulet despise each other and are rivals. Romeo and Juliet are from opposing families and the feud between them makes their love unsuccessful. The story starts where masked Montague people ensure further conflict by gatecrashing a Capulet party, and Romeo and Juliet meet each other. Those two characters fall in love with each other and try to marry in secret using the help of Juliet’s nurse. But Juliet was to marry her father’s choice, the County Paris.

Many characters in the play contribute to the storyline among wish Friar Lawrence is one of them. Lawrence is a tool used by Shakespeare to foreshadow events having a reckless character. His inability to trust his instincts and lack of thought for the welfare of the two lovers leads to much death and despair. His idea of faking Juliet’s death to avoid marriage does not end on a positive note as both lovers commit suicide. But in the end, having suffered massive losses, the two families decide to end this hatred and enmity and call each other brothers.

Although the ending of the story was grave, there are various lessons that can be learned from it. It teaches and shows us how blind love is. Although the rivalry and hatred between families, the two find each other in deep love against all odds. Not caring about the hard road that’d come, they married and were ready for everything. It also teaches us the power of love and how it can bring the best of us. In the story, Juliet was a timid child while Romeo was suffering from depression. After their meeting and falling in love their personalities changed for the better.

Romeo became a passionate and loving person while Juliet turned into a strong confident woman. This shows how powerful love is. In the end, Romeo hears that his beloved lover died. On hearing that he found no reason to live and poisoned himself. Later Juliet who had taken a prescription to fake her death to not be married off to another person wakes up and hears the death of her lover Romeo. This broke her and she stabbed herself and died. Their belief about nothing being possible without love is clearly reflected in the story.

Many plays and operas have happened that tells the tale of Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet are popular fictional characters that many people look up to as well. People sometimes reference couples loving each other as deeply as Romeo and Juliet did to each other. This goes to show how the characters have been an example of true and deep love. This is without a doubt one of the greatest works of William Shakespeare.
